The project “Shifting Investment Flows Towards Green Transformation” (SHIFT) is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) as part of Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI). It has the objective to improve green policy and investment frameworks for enhanced climate action in Viet Nam, especially in the energy sector. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is SHIFT’s project management agency, and the Department for Sector Finance and Economics (DSFE) is the project owner.
The other ministry participating in the project is the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV). The Project is implemented by a consortium of six partner organizations, with GIZ as consortium lead. The other implementing consortium partners are Agora Energiewende (Agora), Banking Academy of Viet Nam (BAV), International Finance Corporation (IFC), Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The SHIFT project is inter-disciplinary and inter-ministerial. It includes 4 interrelated Components:
- Component 1: Provide technical assistance and advice to promote an enabling environment and enhance green public as well as private investment
- Component 2: Enhance the capacity of relevant government agencies to promote financing and investment for the energy transition in Vietnam
- Component 3: Improve the capacity of financial institutions in providing green financial services and implement policies and guidelines on green credit finance
- Component 4: Improve the interest and investment capacity of the private sector in green transformation projects, reducing greenhouse gas emissions
To support the implementation of the Component 1 and Component 3 of the SHIFT Project, the project is offering an internship opportunity with details below.
National Intern
Office Location: 14 Thuy Khue, Ha Noi
Duration: maximum 6 months, starting ASAP from March 2026
The Intern will have opportunities to learn and practice in the following areas:
- Project meetings preparation and documentation
- Project activities implementation including of ideas/concepts elaboration, data collection, desk research, specific topics presentation
- Knowledge and data management
- Workshops, trainings and other events preparation and reports
- Translations of project documents (Vietnamese/English)
Minimum requirements:
- Vietnamese citizens in the last year of their bachelor’s degree study or newly graduated students within 6 months upon commencement of the internship;
- Majoring in economics, banking, finance, sustainable development, international relations or similar are preferred;
- Interest in and basic understanding about the banking/finance sector and/or in development cooperation is an asset;
- Having conducted scientific research in one of the fields of banking, finance, sustainable finance, or ESG is an asset;
- Basic design skills are an asset;
- Experience in facilitating student social clubs or networks is an asset;
- Proficiency with MS Office;
- Proficiency in English and Vietnamese;
- Good communication skills;
- Ability to do multi-tasks independently and efficiently is an asset.
