The Cluster “Environment and Climate Change” currently comprises a total of four teams in the thematic areas of climate policy, climate and agriculture coast and water, biodiversity and forests. The latter includes the project “Management and Protection of Protected areas with diverse ecosystems in Viet Nam” (MEPA), and “Forest Support Programme” (FSP). The projects are implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE). The projects are funded by BMZ and the EU and implemented by GIZ together with the Viet Nam Forestry Administration to enhance regulatory, institutional and technical capacities for implementing integrated management of forests at a landscape level.
The projects are looking for qualified local candidates to fill the following position:
Junior Project Officer (02 positions)
“Forest landscapes and forest-based value chains”
Duty station: Hanoi
Duration: 1. June 2026 – 30. June 2028
Main responsibilities and tasks:
- Assist in the general project implementation, including draft reports and presentation materials in the area of forest management and forest-based value chains
- Conduct data collection, analysis, and contribute to the development of Terms of Reference (ToR) for project activities
- Contribute to the conceptualisation and organization of technical meetings, training events, workshops, and conferences
- Collaborate with other team members to arrange logistics for international and local events, workshops, and expert missions, including taking meeting minutes
- Support for consultant contracting and management, trainings, workshops, partner meetings and other events
- Contribute to the knowledge management and M&E by collecting and adequately distributing information and relevant material about the activities and ensure documentation and filing of documents in line with GIZ’s rules and the project’s document structure
- Support development and dissemination of relevant Knowledge Products (information leaflets, guidelines, factsheets)
- Other duties and tasks at the request of the management if required
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Geography, Forestry, Biology, Environmental Studies or any other related academic subject; a Master’s degree is an advantage
- One-year professional experience (including relevant internships), with focus on environmental protection and forest landscapes
- Expertise and interest in the project’s topics, especially related to sustainable forest management, forest landscape approaches and forest-based value chains
- Working experience in development cooperation would be an advantage;
- Working experience with international and national frameworks on forest landscapes
- Experience in analytical work, i.e. analysis of statistical data, GIS data, financial data, or similar
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Vietnamese, with analytical capacities and ability to synthesize relevant findings;
- Excellent command of MS Office and good working knowledge of modern IT applications ideally with GIS, traceability tools or technology for conservation
- Excellent self-management and coordination skills,
- Creativity, proactivity and initiative towards the results of the project;
- Excellent ability to share knowledge and experience, a good team player;
- Demonstrated ability to work and produce – sometimes under high pressure – high quality outputs.
