Background
FHI 360 is a nonprofit organization that mobilizes research, resources, and relationships so that people everywhere can access the opportunities they need to lead full, healthy lives. FHI 360 serves more than 70 countries and all U.S. states and territories.
Funded by the U.S. Government, the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) Activity aims to advance Vietnam’s capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats through enhanced surveillance systems, laboratory networks, workforce development, multisectoral coordination, and evidence-based decision-making. STRIDES supports Vietnam’s efforts to advance national health security priorities and strengthen preparedness for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
Within this scope, STRIDES supports Vietnam in strengthening public health surveillance, including Event-Based Surveillance (EBS) and Indicator-Based Surveillance (IBS). Key technical priorities include strengthening EBS/IBS training resources, developing epidemiological decision rules to support AI-assisted EBS signal triage, and contributing to the refinement of national EBS and risk assessment guidance.
STRIDES is seeking a Senior National Consultant for EBS/IBS Training and Surveillance Guidance to provide targeted technical expertise in these areas. The consultant will support the development and finalization of the EBS/IBS Training of Trainers (TOT) package, develop an epidemiological logic framework and a curated dataset to support AI-assisted EBS, and provide technical recommendations on relevant national surveillance guidance in line with MOH policy and regulatory requirements.
