CONTEXT
IECD (European institute of cooperation and development) is an international non profitable organization recognized as of public utility. IECD is operating in Vietnam for more than 10 years and its activities are focused on vocational training program and entrepreneurship training for the most vulnerable.
The Seeds of Hope (SoH) training program is a 9-month training program in automotive including 4 months training at school and 3-5 months in internship/trainee. Our objective is to support the most vulnerable students, so they gain confidence and to integrate a formal job with decent conditions. The project site is at District Twelve Vocational Training Centre (DTTEC) – Campus 2, 36 Nguyen Van Van (HT11), KP3, Hiep Thanh ward, District 12.
Ho Chi Minh Vocational Training College (DTTEC), before it was District Twelve Vocational Training College was originally Hoc Mon Vocational Training Center, which was established on July 30th, 1985 and was renamed to District 12 Vocational Training Center in April 1997. After 27 years of construction and development, the school achieved 8 excellent emulation flags of the Ministry of Education and the City People’s Committee; 13 certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the City People’s Committee; Third-class Labor Medal (1999); and Second-class Labor Medal (2009).
Currently the project is searching for a Career and Orientation Officer who can support the SoH team and the partner school (DTTEC) with the following details:
- Working time: 5 days per week
- Place: 3 days the school (DTTEC) office, 2 days at the project (SoH) office in District 12
- Compensation: Salary range between 10 – 12M VND per month, 13th month bonus,
- Package: social and health insurance, 12 days annual leave in accordance with VN labor law
- Contract duration: 2 years

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
As a Career and Orientation Officer for automotive students, you will serve as both a mentor and counselor – providing individualized career guidance, designing and delivering/facilitating workshops focused on career readiness. You will coordinate on-campus Career Fairs, and lead other initiatives aimed at promoting student success. You will cultivate strong relationships with automotive employers and community partners to proactively identify job opportunities that meet the needs of current DTTEC automotive students and graduates. The Career and Orientation Officer also tracks student engagement and outcomes and uses this data to drive continuous improvement. Most importantly, you will work closely with DTTEC, IECD and external partners to ensure services are aligned, effective, and responsive to industry trends and student needs.
1. Career Counseling & Assessing
- Provide one-on-one career counseling to help DTTEC automotive students assess their skills, interests, and values; create personalized action plans; and set realistic career goals.
- Assist students in developing short- and medium-term career development plans.
- Plan, organize, supervise, control and report on Students Internships, ensuring alignment with academic and career goals.
- Assist in the collection of employer feedback and graduate surveys.
- Coordinate and track annual individual follow-ups for each student, on a professional and personal standpoint.
2. Guidance and Career Readiness Training
- Design and facilitate orientation sessions and workshops on topics such as career planning, résumé writing, interview skills, job search strategies, workplace ethics, and organizational culture.
- Monitor participation rates, track outcomes, and collect feedback for training sessions improvement.
- Prepare regular reports and updated presentations if required.
3. Coordination
- Work closely with IECD Project Manager (PM) and the school partner to align goals and integrate services.
- Participate in the organization of on-campus career fairs, employer visits, and networking events.
- Collaborate and maintain partnerships with employers, alumni networks, and community organizations to create internships and job opportunities.

- A people person and a team player
- A bachelor’s degree holder in Education, Social Work or related field.
- 2 years’ experience in career and orientation counseling or related experience.
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint…
- Familiar with multi-cultural working environment
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Willing to learn, dynamic, reliable and capable of adapting and reacting quickly
