POSITION: Chauffeur (GSO)
CLOSING DATE: August 12, 2026
WORK HOURS: Full-time, 44 hours/week.
STARTING BASIC SALARY: US $10,958.00/year
ALLOWANCE AND BENEFITS: Tet bonus, annual salary increase, leave benefits, health benefits, local social security program, miscellaneous benefits allowance and other allowances.
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
The incumbent will safely operate a fully armored vehicle (FAV) to transport the Chief of Mission (COM) within the city and surrounding areas. The incumbent will ensure that the vehicle is maintained in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition in accordance with United States Government standards to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life, and perform minor preventive maintenance. The incumbent will have to be available to work shifts, after-hours duty, weekends, and holidays as required, and to drive on provincial visits. The incumbent will also serve as a Motor pool chauffeur and deliver official documents and invitations as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of secondary education (grade 12) is required.
Experience: At least 3 years of professional driving experience is required.
Languages:
Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This will be tested.)
Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have:
Knowledge of in-country travel routes and areas. General awareness of the general political climate in the country related to protests, demonstrations, and riots.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to diagnose and handle preventive maintenance and first-echelon automotive repairs. Ability to detect vehicle defects and report them immediately to authorities concerned.
Ability to quickly and calmly evaluate risks and alternative actions always assuring the maximum safety of the passengers.
Ability to deal with high level officials in a relaxed and competent manner.
Have basic computer skills to maintain reports and for communication purposes.
Hold a valid driver’s license (class D2 or higher). (Driving skill will be tested.)
