The Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP) is a technical cooperation project co-financed by the Governments of Germany, Switzerland and Viet Nam. MCRP is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Construction and the 13 Mekong Delta provinces. MCRP’s objective is to support the Vietnamese authorities in enhancing the climate-resilience of the Mekong Delta and its communities, thereby ensuring sustainable development in the region.

 

MCRP focuses on four working areas:

  1. Support the establishment of an institutional framework to facilitate regional coordination of climate-resilient development in the Mekong Delta;
  2. Improve investment planning at regional level for the climate-resilient and gender-sensitive management of water resources in urban and rural areas;
  3. Implement the application of innovative technologies in coastal and riverbank erosion that strengthen the resilience of rural infrastructure and ecosystems: and
  4. Implementation of climate-resilient and water-sensitive urban infrastructure.

 

MCRP has a comprehensive workplan, in which water management and coastal protection is one of key working areas. The MCRP is offering an internship opportunity as follows:

 

National Intern

Project office station: Can Tho City, Viet Nam

Duration: 6 months, starting as soon as possible

 

Main areas for learning and practicing during the internship:

  • Technical activities in the “water management and coastal protection” team.
  • Training, workshops, meetings preparation (e.g. liaising with partners and consultants, preparing and organizing logistics, reporting)
  • Technical and administrative activity following up
  • Translation, interpretation and knowledge management

Minimum requirements:

  • Vietnamese nationality.
  • Currently undertaking postgraduate/bachelor studies in natural science, climate and environment (with preference on natural resources management) and or related areas
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Independent and well-organized with good communication skills
  • Having strong sense of responsibility
  • Proficiency in using MS office: Word, Excel, PPT
  • Knowledge and understanding of geo-databases, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and digital technologies applied to natural resources management is an asset
  • The internship requires university enrolment or the finalization of your degree no longer than six months ago upon commencement of the internship.
