The priority area Environmental policy and sustainable use of natural resources is covered by the “GIZ Green Cluster”. The Forest and Biodiversity (FOBI) Unit in the Green cluster currently comprises a total of four teams in the thematic areas of climate policy, coast and water, agriculture, biodiversity and forests. The thematic area “biodiversity and forests” includes “Management and Protection of Protected areas with diverse ecosystems in Viet Nam” (MEPA), and “Forestry Support Programme” (FSP). The projects are implemented together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE).
The project “Forestry support programme” (FSP) is funded by the European Union (EU), with additional contributions from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is jointly implemented by the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection (VNFOREST) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The EU has ratified the Action Document in October 2023 for a five-year project implementation. The project will work at the national and focus on Dien Bien, Son La, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Dak Lak provinces in the Northwest and Central Highland regions of Viet Nam. The project’s overall objective is to promote green, sustainable and inclusive growth as well as to reduce vulnerability to climate change in Viet Nam.
The project “Forestry support programme” (FSP) is offering the internship opportunities as follows:
National Interns
Office location: 3rd Floor, Coco Building, 14 Thuy Khue, Ha Noi, Viet Nam
Duration: 06 months, starting from September 2026
During the internship, the Interns will learn and practice in the following areas:
- Technical activities implementation (ideas/ concepts elaboration, terms of references/ minutes of meeting preparation, data collection, desk research and specific topics presentation)
- Project documents preparation and recording at the relevant platforms
- Meetings, workshops, field trips and other project events with partners (logistics arrangement, materials preparation, minutes taking and relevant reports)
- Gender equality and diversity promotion in the project activities and among the team
- Knowledge management, data management system and data protection regulations
- Monitoring and evaluation of project activities (input collection, output and results presentation, reports development and standardization)
- Translation and interpretation of project documents and at project events (English and Vietnamese)
Requirements:
- Vietnamese nationality.
- Currently undertaking (at least third year of study) or has recently completed postgraduate/bachelor studies in forestry, environment, economics or related fields, no longer than six months from the date of graduation.
- Has an interest in the forestry sector, in particular sustainable forest management is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
- Strong MS Office, organizational and analytical skills.
- Highly responsible, flexible, goal-oriented and constructive manner.
