The position is expected to work for 02 projects, namely Agri-Photovoltaics for Rural Areas in Viet Nam (APV) belonging to the priority area number 2: Environmental policy and sustainable natural resource use and Project Clean Afordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE) belonging to the priority area number 3: Energy.
CASE project is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) which is commissioned by German ministries working in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. The project aims to drive change in the energy sector in SEA towards increased ambition with regards to climate change. It focuses on the four main SEA countries in terms of energy demand and also foresees regional interventions. Composed of a wide range of organisations and driven by strong regional cohesion and network, CASE will propose evidence-based solutions to the challenges met by decision makers and build societal support around those solutions. CASE will also support coordination in the SEA energy sector, provide technical and policy support and facilitate dialogue around a new energy vision.
The APV project aims to develop agrivoltaic models in Viet Nam, contributing to the promotion of a sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural sector. The project also addresses land-use challenges associated with the development of solar power projects, thereby supporting the successful implementation of the national targets for renewable energy development under the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050 (PDP8). At the same time, it contributes to Viet Nam’s commitment, announced by the Prime Minister at COP26, to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The projects CASE and APV are looking for a qualified and professional candidate for the position of:
Project Officer “CASE and APV”
Duty station: Hanoi, Viet Nam
Duration: ASAP until 28/02/2027 with possible extension
Main responsibilities:
- Work closely with other team members on the annual project Operation Plan for both projects.
- Support the regular monitoring and reporting on the progress of relevant project activities
- Assist other team members in implementing the project activities
- Provide independent advice and technical consultations regarding the design and implementation of technical studies and analysis on technology and innovation for renewable energy development
- Provide inputs to the project reports on country and regional level, especially in measuring the indicators
- Develop and maintain communication and cooperation with the project partners and the related stakeholders
- Develop and maintain networks with industrial and business associations
- Facilitate the development and implementation of workshops and seminars
- Close cooperation with the Vietnamese stakeholders and with the Regional Programme Consortium to facilitate the project implementation
- Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the management of economic transformation, or sustainable development projects in international cooperation, advisory, or consulting services.
- Having experience of working with political partners, preferably with Ministry of Science Technology and private sector.
- Updated knowledge in two or more of the following fields: inclusive technology and innovation, regional economic development, energy transition, and/or energy transition policy.
- Knowledge of the Green Economy and Just Energy Transition landscape in Viet Nam
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, policymakers, and business developers.
- Patents and Prototypes: Experience in creating prototypes or securing patents is a strong asset.
