Background
FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes experts in health, public health threats, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, technology, communication, and social marketing – creating a unique mix of capabilities to address today’s interrelated development challenges. FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address challenges in HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; Tuberculosis (TB) case finding and treatment; antimicrobial resistance; health system strengthening; maternal and child health and nutrition; and Global Health Security (GHS).
Funded by the U.S. Government, the Strengthening Infectious disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) and EpiC (Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control) advances cross-sectoral efforts to successfully identify, manage, and respond to infectious disease threats; detect and prevent further outbreaks; and instill confidence in the operability of a country’s disease surveillance and detection structures.
Objectives
The project aims to extend the existing CDC Laboratory Information System (LIS) to Commune Health Stations (TYT), digitizing the test ordering and specimen collection workflow. Additionally, it will build a mapping system for test catalogs based on international standards (LOINC and SNOMED-CT) to meet the Ministry of Health’s epidemiological surveillance requirements. Core Requirement: Ensure absolute safety for the existing LIS database with zero disruption to the ongoing laboratory operations at the CDC.
