BACKGROUND:

Friends for International TB Relief (FIT) is a registered non-profit organization working in tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care through service delivery, research, technical assistance, and advocacy. FIT works closely with Provincial and National TB Programs and in-country partners to implement projects funded by international donors, including the US CDC, the Global Fund, Unitaid, the Stop TB Partnership and others. FIT also collaborates with leading academic institutions, such as the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Karolinska Institute, and actively contributes to regional and global TB policy and technical forums. PROJECT SUMMARY:

Start4All is a UNITAID-funded research project led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and implemented across five countries in Phase 2. In Viet Nam, the project will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy, feasibility, and costing of enhanced specimen collection and diagnostic testing during childhood TB screening at the National Lung Hospital in Ha Noi and Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the project will assess the use of oral swab specimens for TB screening and diagnostic testing among adults at multiple commune-level health facilities in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. Participant recruitment is expected to begin in 2026 Quarter 2 and continue through 2027 Quarter 1, followed by a results dissemination phase.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of both TB screening activities mentioned above across Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. He/She will be responsible for ethical and regulatory compliance, activity implementation, adherence to research protocols, data quality assurance and donor reporting. More specifically, the position will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Project coordination & implementation oversight
    • Coordinate implementation of both project components, across all sites and facilities
    • Develop and maintain detailed workplans, timelines, and deliverables
    • Track progress against milestones and proactively troubleshoot delays or implementation challenges
    • Ensure alignment between government facility, research and monitoring & evaluation staff
    • Facilitate regular coordination meetings with local stakeholders and project leadership
  • Regulatory compliance & IRB management
    • Lead development, submission, and tracking of all project IRB protocols, amendments, and progress/final reports
    • Maintain a complete and auditable regulatory documents for the project
  • SOP implementation & quality assurance
    • Support development, review, and maintenance of data collection tools, in collaboration with the sponsor, research team and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team
    • Support development, review, and updating of project activity SOPs
    • Train and retrain (as needed) project staff and collaborators on SOPs
    • Monitor adherence to SOPs across sites through data reviews and site visits
    • Identify deviations and coordinate corrective and preventive actions
  • Data quality assurance & monitoring
    • Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team and sponsor to ensure accurate, complete, and timely data entry
    • Support source data verification and routine data quality checks
    • Ensure compliance with data protection and patient confidentiality standards
  • Sponsor management
    • Track sponsor deliverables and reporting deadlines
    • Coordinate preparation of quarterly and annual sponsor reports
    • Support sponsor communications, site visits, and audits
  • Stakeholder engagement & relationship management
    • Coordinate with project leadership to engage focal points from the National Lung Hospital, Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital and commune-level health facilities
    • Maintain positive working relationships with local and international partners
    • Ensure timely communication of risks, challenges, and proposed solutions
  • Results dissemination
    • Support preparation of dissemination products, including technical reports, policy briefs and scientific abstracts, presentations and manuscripts
  • Team support & capacity building
    • Provide technical and operational guidance to project staff and collaborators
    • Promote a collaborative working environment across Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City teams

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS :

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, preventive medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics/statistics, economics or related fields and at least two years of relevant work experience are required
  • A Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics/statistics, economics or related discipline may substitute for the one year of work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with IRB/ethics submissions and amendments, project coordination, reporting
  • Strong understanding of research ethics, SOP-driven implementation and data quality assurance
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in spoken English
