STUDENT LIFE & ALUMNI RELATIONS OFFICER (M/F)

Vocational Training School in Bakery Thu Duc City, VIETNAM

 

CONTEXT

IECD was created in 1988 and is driven by the desire to show solidarity with people in need. IECD has progressively established itself in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam since 2010. Education and vocational training are at the core of IECD teams’ actions, convinced that these are the keys to human development. Indeed, their mission is to promote development by strengthening peoples’ abilities and those of local partners.

La Boulangerie Française HCMC (aka The French Bakery), a social enterprise by IECD, aims to train vulnerable young people to become highly skilled bakers and responsible adults, socially well integrated and independent. The high-quality bakery products made during their intensive training are sold to customers and the revenue generated contribute directly to financing the school’s operations, with the objective to become self-sustainable.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                                                       

Student Life & Alumni Officer is responsible for ensuring holistic student support, including welfare, life skills development, coordination of dormitory life, reporting, and long-term engagement with graduates. The role contributes directly to students’ personal growth, professional readiness, and successful social integration, in line with IECD’s mission and LBF’s social enterprise model.

The position works closely with operations, technical trainers, life skills trainers, dormitory management, communication staff, and external partners.

 

1.       STUDENT LIFE & WELFARE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee the overall well-being and holistic development of students throughout their training
  • Coordinate holistic student support, including school fee follow-up, personal development, and leisure
  • Remain available to provide advice, guidance, and pastoral support as students adjust to school and community
  • Organize monthly individual check-ins and regular group meetings with
  • Participate to class councils with teachers/trainers to gather continuous feedback and adjust student support
  • Implement student disciplinary action in accordance with institutional
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and sensitive cases within the organization’s policy

 

2.   STUDENT RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING & INTERNSHIPS:

  • Manage the full cycle of student recruitment, selection, onboarding, and
  • Coordinate and support Orientation programs to ensure smooth student integration
  • Support the organisation on professional visits (field trips to bakeries, pastry shops, hospitality businesses, or related workplaces).

 

3.   DORMITORY & STUDENT LIVING MANAGEMENT:

  • Maintain close coordination with the Dormitory Manager to gain  a comprehensive  understanding of students’ lives outside the classroom.
  • Monitor student living conditions, including health, food, hygiene, cleaning, security, and extracurricular
  • Support initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and supportive living environment for

 

4.   REPORTING & COMMUNICATION:

  • Prepare and publish periodic reports / student-related activities, including life skills training, recruitment, and student life
  • Work closely with the communication team to support and promote student activities and
  • Contribute to student newsletters, guides, or information materials as

 

5.    ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT & CAREER SUPPORT 

  • Animate the Network: Actively manage the “Boulangers without Borders” initiative to reduce post – graduation isolation and foster a “give-back”
  • Digital Hub Management: Redesign and moderate dedicated Zalo, WhatsApp, and Facebook/LinkedIn groups to keep the community
  • Alumni Database: Maintain a secure, up-to-date database of alumni profiles, including employment status and professional
  • “Baker to Baker” Mentorship: Pair experienced alumni with current students for professional guidance and organize “Class Speaking”
  • Career & Internship Board: Manage a digital board sharing job offers and advanced training opportunities specifically for LBF
  • Community Events: Organize monthly offline “Coffee Talks,” annual sports tournaments, and technical visits (e.g., cacao farms or factory tours).
  • Contests & Engagement: Stimulate creative sharing through online baking contests (e.g., “Alumni Baguette Challenge”) and regular
  • Ambassador Program: Identify and train enthusiastic alumni to represent LBF at external events and to potential sponsors.
  • Partner Collaboration: Coordinate with industry partners for technical workshops, demo events, and competition prizes

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s  degree in  social  work, Psychology,  Community  Development, or  a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year working with vulnerable populations or youth-at-risk.
  • Communication: English working proficiency is required to coordinate project activities and
  • Qualities: A “people person” with high empathy, strong organizational skills, and passion for French gastronomy is a
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media

 

Employment Terms

  • Salary: 9 – 10 M VND per month + 13th-month
  • Benefits: Health insurance, annual medical check
  • Contract: 1-year renewable
  • Location: TDC, with occasional travel for field visits or alumni events You would work hand-in-hand with an international team of Project Manager, food professionals, young adults, a team of educators and university staffs.
