As part of its commitment to advancing gender equality in Viet Nam’s food safety sector, the The Safe Food for Growth (SAFEGRO) Project is offering organizations the opportunity to access and implement a comprehensive Gender Analysis and Mainstreaming Approach in Food Safety (Gender e-learning) course, free of charge. This is a unique chance for institutions to strengthen their capacity and integrate gender-responsive approaches into their programs and operations.

The SAFEGRO Project, funded by the Government of Canada through non-refundable ODA, is pleased to introduce the online course Gender e-learning. The course consists of five modules, providing knowledge and practical guidance on gender analysis and mainstreaming approaches in policies and programs in general, and in food and food safety in particular. The content is delivered in an engaging format combining text, images, videos, interactive games, real-life examples, and case studies. Learners will need approximately 4 hours to complete the course and will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successfully passing the final test.

This course is especially relevant for:

  • Development organizations, programs, and NGOs;
  • Government officials in the field of food and food safety; Researchers and students in food technology and related areas;
  • The food industry.

Since its launch in November 2024, the Gender e-learning course has attracted more than 200 learners, including institutions, development practitioners, and 38 provincial Women’s Unions (WU), who have successfully completed the course. Over 90% of participants found the course useful and reported a high level of satisfaction. Based on the course content, many institutions and provincial Women’s Unions have successfully adapted the materials for communication and teaching on gender-responsive food safety.

The SAFEGRO Project will conclude its activities in Viet Nam in March 2026. Interested organizations and institutions are invited to submit an Expression of Interest before September 30th 2025. The project will handover the full e-learning package and provide guidance for implementation free of charge to the receiving organizations.

We believe this course will help strengthen professional capacity, improve equitable programs and operations, promote gender equality, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development in Viet Nam.
